March Open Day 25.03.23

As part of the Open Day, students took part in a series of collaborative drawing exercises. Initially, students walked around the paper, continuously ‘tracing’ what they saw outside the windows on the paper with pencil without looking at what they were drawing. Following this, they used a black felt pen to identify shapes and forms from the ‘tracing’. They spent 2 minutes doing this, then moved along the drawing and repeated. Moving along the drawing again, they used coloured pencils to hatch and/or shade the shapes and forms identified by other students. Finally, the overall drawing was torn, creating small artefacts of the overall collaborative drawing for them to take away. At the start of the exercise, students were quiet and nervous. However, as they worked through these exercises, they became more confident and lively in speaking with the other students.
