Year 3 Abstract Drawing Workshop 04.10.22

The year 3 students were asked to create an abstract collaborative drawing to visually depict the themes and ideas from the articles they had read and discussed together. The aim was for them to represent their ideas in an abstract & architectural manner rather than literally.
Before they began the drawing, they agreed rules for the drawing and created a plan of action. For example, whether they were going to use straight lines only or only a particular colour? They wrote down the rules before they began the drawing.
The students found this activity challenging – creating an abstract drawing from what they had read. On reflection, if I ran this workshop again, I would provide the students with more guidance and examples.
